I designed a logo, packaging system and signage for Formulary 55, a specialty brand of bath & body products made with the finest essential oils, shea butter and ground botanicals. I introduced the finest materials to the branding platform (unique fonts, toothy uncoated paper and gold foil) coupled with signature botanical and vintage illustrations. The result? Some shoppers don’t have to know the brand to want to buy it in bulk. Currently sold in Anthropology and was featured on The Today Show nationally over the summer.

A brand new private, independent value investment management firm, Sapience Investments, approached us to help create a meaningful brand. Operating out of a modern, coveted Newport Beach address, we created a logo which took on an architectural, modular feel building the letter “S.” The sophistication of their surroundings and the Sapience team’s expertise and approach to investing all influenced the look and feel of the brand. From photoshoots of their high-touch space in SoCal for their responsive website, to conventional printing, embossing and engraving techniques of their various marketing materials, we delivered a brand that is memorable, tactile, and oozes quality making a solid foundation for all future creations.

CustomColdº/CustomCold Xpress is a cold storage/transportation company in Seattle. They store/transport fresh and frozen product all throughout the Pacific Northwest. I introduced the bear as a symbol of strength, stability and because of its relationship to seafood. Their successful brand sets them apart from their competition and is flexible enough to grow with them year to year.

BackShield is an ergonomic back support, primarily for the automobile. The BackShield logo was produced with many things in mind: the shape of the product itself, the road on which users will be driving, the “triple layer construction”. The combining of the symbol and the font, as well as the creation of the system's color palette was an explosive start for BackShield.
Since partnering with BackShield we have created countless materials and expanded their brand beyond even what they originally imagined. We have created a series of responsive logos — even for their future line of products.

Design and develop a logo for the new expansion team to MLR, Toronto Arrows.
Inspired by the city flag and the iconic blue and white of most of the city’s major sports teams.
Worked as a freelance designer for Doubleday & Cartwright on this project.
BlazePR, a PR Agency in Santa Monica, needed a brand refresh and website that matched their smart, quirky and creative personality. With the concept, “Hungry?” we built a photo set and illustrated a story of “stealing market share” representing their various client sectors including food and beverage, technology, hospitality, beauty, etc. The flame icon and fiery orange-red is a perfect foundation for their brand. Who knew that our stunt dog, Stella, would steal the show?

After 30 years of organic growth, Tuxedos and Tennis Shoes, a leading Northwest catering company, became veterans in the venue and restaurant businesses as well. As a result, a parent company was needed and aptly named DSquared (as both partners are named David.) Their portfolio includes an exclusive, historic West Seattle Space, a rustic, modern Capitol Hill space, two restaurants at Seattle’s downtown Benaroya Hall, and much more. In addition to the new website, we were responsible for a complete rebrand of DSquared’s portfolio of logos, brand positioning, online and print collateral, signage and vehicle graphics.

We created the logo, website, signage, marketing materials and photography for Tapah Yoga, a new Seattle-based yoga studio. Using NXT’s in-house photo studio, Tapah's instructors each posed on a “moving set” to create inspiring imagery to be used as artwork. By putting the instructors front and center helped create an inviting and approachable brand for them. The logo is based on a grid of the flower of life.

Motivational speaker Mario Juarez is an industry veteran of Microsoft fame. At Microsoft, he experimented with the idea that storytelling can be a powerful business tool. First, he gave talks to internal groups. Then, he honed his approach and began advising corporate leaders and decision makers. His idea proved so successful that he quit his job at Microsoft and founded StoryCo, a motivational speaking consultancy based on the power of storytelling to change corporate culture and generate real, solid business growth.
Mario approached me to create StoryCo’s visual identity and brand. The logo is a nod to his chart-driven process and a reference to his initials, MJ (since his personality drives the brand). I used an electric blue color palette as dynamic and sociable as he is. The brand is a true visual representation of Mario: strong, confident and established.
Highly-curated, hard-to-find, classic vintage menswear. That’s what Harvey Gorsuch is selling in a renovated barbershop in Seattle’s historic Columbia City shopping district. The brand I created for him exudes the same swagger and refinement as his secondhand finds. I modified a vintage-feel typeface for the logo to reference the by-gone eras and attitudes of his most immaculate pieces.

Yahoo! wanted to increase the number of PR professionals using its online resources to research and pitch stories. We created a fun, retro-themed, modular “lookbook” that showcased Yahoo!’s capabilities and made it easy for PR professionals to leverage them for success.

A West Seattle independent pre-K-8 school approached us to help them with their rebrand and launch campaign. The logo is composed of two colorful trapezoids that intersect to build a “W.” The photoshoots with dozens of kids included locations such as the school, a petting zoo, the Museum of Flight and even an outdoor camping trip in the woods.

A website overhaul for our friend (and Seattle copywriter) Kevin Jones required two things: A visual concept that would convey the tongue-in-cheekness of the headline, “Copy for the common good,”and provide a seamless showcase for Kevin’s work. For the former, we sent Kevin to the moon, recreating the iconic Apollo 11 mission with a location shoot in Eastern Washington. For the latter, we combined an elegant layout and flow to enable users to scroll smoothly through samples of Kevin’s work against a background of shifting color.
